Venues
Location: Collegium Broscianum, Institute of Philosophy, Grodzka 52 Street, 31-044 Kraków, Poland.
Collegium Broscianum is a building from the end of the 16 century – the former Jesuit College, which is now one of Jagiellonian University buildings, currently a home for the Institute of Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics, Institute of Sociology, Institute for Religious Studies and Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations. The building is localized in the middle of Royal Way, connecting Wawel Castle with the main market square (Europe’s biggest medieval market square). It’s a very touristy area with many restaurants and hotels around.
The conference dinner will be organized on the 22nd of August at 8 p.m. in the restaurant “Smakołyki” (https://www.smakolyki.eu/) at Floriana Straszewskiego 28 Street.
Getting Around
How to get to Kraków?
You might get a direct or connecting flight to Kraków Airport (https://krakowairport.pl/en/homepage/), located about half an hour drive from the city center. From the airport, you might get to the centre by public transport (https://krakowairport.pl/en/passenger/transport-en/directions/from-to-krakow-airport). The travel by public transport takes about 20 minutes if you choose the train or 35 minutes for a bus.
Alternatively, you might get a flight to Warsaw Chopin Airport and get to Kraków by train from Warsaw. Warsaw Chopin Airport is connected with railway stations “Warszawa Zachodnia” and “Warszawa Centralna”, from which you might get a direct train to Kraków. Train tickets can be purchased at the ticket office at the station or on the internet at the website https://www.intercity.pl/en/. The name of the station in Kraków is Kraków Główny. This station is located in the centre of the city.
Another option is to get a flight to Katowice Airport (https://www.katowice-airport.com/en) and get to Kraków by bus, which might be booked at the website: https://www.matuszek.com.pl/a_index.php?lang=en. Katowice Airport is 110 km away from the centre of Kraków.
Public transport in Kraków: Kraków has a well-developed public transport network, including trams and buses. You might check the options to travel within the city at Google Maps or at the website: https://jakdojade.pl/krakow. The price for 20 minutes ticket is 4 PLN, and for one ride or 60 minutes ticket is 6 PLN.

Floriańska Guest House is located about 20 minutes walk from Collegium Broscianum, and S. Pigoń Guest House is located about 30 minutes walk from Collegium Broscianum.
There are also plenty of other accommodation options at different prices and standards near Grodzka Street, where the Conference will take place. These hotels and apartments can be reserved through booking.com or Airbnb.com.
Wee encourage all to make their reservations as soon as possible.
Proposed activities
There will be a possibility for conference participants to do sightseeing with a guide in Old Town and Kazimierz on the last day of the Conference. If you are interested in sightseeing at 5 p.m. on the 24th of August, please email Piotr Grzegorz Nowak directly (nowak.piotr.grzegorz@gmail.com) by 1st of July 2024. Joint sighing with a private guide will be possible if at least 13 people are interested in that kind of activity. Those interested in a tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau on the 25th of August can make their reservations by contacting the travel agency at the website: https://www.auschwitz-tours.com/. All reservations should be made before the 25th of June 2024. We suggest all conference participants book a tour at 10 a.m if they want to visit Auschwitz together. Note however that the tour through Auschwitz will be done in a 30 person group including also people outside of the conference. While booking the tour, please indicate that you are a participant in the IAPDD Conference. If you prefer to visit Auschwitz independently of other conference participants, you might book your tour at a different time or in a different company
